How could we improve Flow?

  1. Prioritize Tasks

    I find that the (White Square) (Yellow Square) and (Red Square) are a feeble method of color coding the importance of tasks. This is because when a task hits Yellow... it is due THAT DAY... and when a task is Red it is already past due. What if you are working on 2 other tasks and that "Yellow" task has crept up on you... and will at least take you 2 days to complete? Now you are putting your current tasks behind, missing the deadline for the yellow task, and having your workflow decimated. Ultimately accomplishing nothing.. and leaving not…

    We have some really big and unique plans for this I have been excited about for a while. Hoping this will be our next big project.

  2. Dependant tasks

    Our team has too many unactionable tasks in our Teama because they are dependant upon other tasks being completed!

    teamwork.com has the amazing ability to create "dependancies" for tasks (though their implementation is much more clunky than I'm sure Flow could do it). What they do is make the task uncheckable until the primary task is first completed. I think you should take this a step further and move the dependent task out of view (maybe grayed out at the bottom of the list).

  3. Task due time

    Many of my colleagues complain that it is not possible to assign an exact time to a task, is this something that you plan for in the future?

    We plan to add this, probably around the time we add start dates to tasks. Still we’ve got a bit of heavy lifting to do elsewhere before we get here.

  4. Project Templates

    It would be awesome if projects could be saved as a template for future use. For instance, anytime we run a sale or promotion the same tasks are repeated for all of our team members. So maybe a drop down when you click to create a new project you could select “from template” then “title of saved project"

    Currently you can create projects and duplicate them the only issue is the templates we’ve created are always in everyones current tasks lists making them cluttered.

  5. Task reminders

    There are important (flagged) tasks and there are due tasks. But there also are important tasks, that have a due date.

    I would love to get specifically notified about tasks that are important _and_ due today. I don't need a notification on this unimportant task, which is due today, but that I don't really care about. But there are these critical tasks, which are so important, you should not forget them. But you do, unfortunately.

    I'd like to make sure I won't. So it would be awesome to get a little notification (by email, iPhone app, or whatever) on the…

    We plan on solving the problem of knowing when to work on something. Daily and weekly planning is on our roadmap, and that will help you stay on top of upcoming tasks.

  6. Mass task editing

    Add the ability to shift-select or cmd-select multiple tasks and add the same due date and/or tag to all of them.

    We do plan to allow for mass editing of tasks. It may take some time to get there, but we want to do it.

  7. Private tasks not in a workspace

    Currently, the inbox is in a workspace - which means that I have to assign an email to the workspace and then awkwardly move tasks around. I want to be able to easily move tasks from an inbox to wherever they need to be - so having an inbox that all my stuff goes into that's then drag and dropped to the right list/workspace would be great.

  8. Additional ways to filter and sort by tag

    Flow would benefit from a way to view tags more effectively than either version.

    Is there a reason that it can't sit in the sidebar as a navigation item? That then takes you to all tags and the number of tasks assigned to them and you can then select a tag?
    A bit like Evernote.

    We’re planning on allowing people to favorite tags, and perhaps even subscribe to tasks with a certain tag.

  9. Github Integration

    I was looking for best productive tools for our team, and I am really glad that I met FLOW. I love most of features you have but for my developers have complains with FLOW did not support integrate with Github. So I want to know you have a plan, and If you are not I strongly suggest that make a github integration for all developers who like github!

  10. Enable manual reordering of lists in calendar view

    The views I use most often in the current Flow are Upcoming/Week and Upcoming/List. In both I do a lot of manual reorganizing, mostly at the start and end of a day but also halfway through. It really helps me keep focused on what I need to attack next. Without the ability to reorder in these views, I'm not able to translate all my to-do's into an actual order of work.

    We plan to make daily planning much better in Flow this year. We’re building out a workflow, piece-by-piece, that’ll help you keep focused throughout the day. Reordering your next tasks will be part of that.

  11. Create an Easy Import from CSV

    Many task programs have an import/export feature. I have not been able to find one here. An easy import feature would give users incentive to move from other platforms (RTM, Google, etc) I currently have hundreds of notes that have been sitting in a file on my computer. If I were to be able to import them they could turn into tasks. I am not willing to do it one at a time. Too busy.

  12. Option to automatically subscribe to all tasks

    We are using Flow to keep our organization notified and on the same page for the various projects that we share.

    Currently members do not receive notifications unless each individual subscribes to each task.

    This requires MUCH fiddling and paying attention to stay on top of things to make sure you are subscribed to everything.

    Making this worse:
    1. You can't subscribe at the list level, you have to subscribe to each task individually
    2. You can't subscribe a team or group of people, each person has to be entered individually
    3. You can't select multiple tasks at once and…

    This is something we plan to do. We’ll be starting by allowing Project subscription, to better follow the happenings in a single Project.

  13. Custom Today View (Marking tasks for "Today" or "Working on")

    Maybe I haven't discovered how to do this on the new Flow Beta, but here is something I have always wanted.

    Because Flow doesn't have a "Today" concept, I manually flag tasks I need to work on today, and so I am always using the "Flagged" view. I also have lots of items that might become due today as well, but they live under "Upcoming", and I rather work from one view, so I then have to manually flag them so they are seen under "Flagged".

  14. Manage tags menu - add, edit, delete tags

    Would be nice to have the option to manage tags more actively. A separate page or sidebar that allows you to add, edit, or delete unused tags would be ideal.

    While we don’t exactly plan to add time estimates, we are interested in helping teams plan workload and estimate the size of tasks. Keep an eye out for updates :)

  17. Guest/Client Pricing

    We're a team of 10, and have about 25 - 40 clients at a time. Would love to invite our clients to the projects, but usually, clients have multiple stakeholders and it becomes price prohibitive. I would love to see an updated pricing structure that doesnt discourage organizations to utilize the tool to its full potential. I understand that seats are a common method for pricings, since when the tool is meant for internal teams, the a seat usualyally equals a salary, and therefore is a good metric for what the organization can afford.   18. A view for the workload of organizations

    Our project managers often ask the question on what a person in our organization is working on and what to prioritise next. In the calendar we can see the tasks of a person that has a due date but there isn't any view of all the assigned task of a person. Basically it's the same functionality as "My Tasks" but for each persons of your team. The best would be to have this view on Overview to see all tasks across all teams.

  19. Resource utilization

    I would like a task to have a duration/level of effort estimate and then be able to see a view/report that shows resource utilization. This would stop me having to use a different tool (ResourceGuru)!
